The Inspiration

Lisa Gibson was a pillar of her community. She’d answer her phone at 3 a.m. and sit and listen for hours in an effort to ease the burden of others however she could. Lisa volunteered alongside her loving husband, Gerry, for organizations such as the St. Peter’s Area Lions Club and St. Peter’s Marina to name a few. Above all, she loved her family and friends. She always had time for a chat, a cup of tea, or a game of cards.
While a life lived this well would be impressive enough, Lisa gave this much of herself while managing her 30+ year battle with Multiple Sclerosis. It was gradual at first, but in time, she was facing serious health issues and would go on to lose all mobility with only minimal use of one hand.
This didn’t slow Lisa down. Her days were filled with happy family memories, Sunday drives, watching deer graze in her back yard and birds in the trees, giving back to her community, and listening to her favourite music—the Zach Brown Band, to be specific.
Sadly, in November 2020 Lisa lost her battle with MS leaving Gerry, her beloved daughters Nora (Ben), Jessica (Brian), and grandson Lucas behind to carry on her memory.

Giving Back
BNQ Management is proud to establish Lisa’s Legacy in her honour. In its inaugural year Lisa’s Legacy will be donating to Hope for Wildlife and local Food Banks.
Hope for Wildlife connects people to wildlife in a positive way through knowledge and understanding. Their goals are to rescue, rehabilitate, and release back into the wild injured and orphaned wildlife and educate others about the importance of conservation and research.
Food Banks Canada helps ensure that families, seniors, and children struggling with food insecurity have access to nourishing food. In the last 5 years food bank use has almost doubled with nearly 1 in 4 people in Canada living in households facing food insecurity.
MS in Canada
Multiple Sclerosis affects over 90,000 Canadian families every year. While researchers work tirelessly on a cure, at this time, there are only treatments to manage symptoms and provide some additional comfort. Advanced MS is often debilitating and leads to immobility and the loss of independence. Families across the country watch as their loved ones lose their independence and sense of self. We know the pain of watching a loved one fade away and hope that Mom’s story can be one of hope.
